A Private Forum for Speculative Fiction Writers

Our Guiding Philosophy:The Subtext Writers Commons is a space for writers of speculative fiction and associated genres to gather online for support, discussion, and social connection, share information about the industry in a semi-private setting, and serve as a launchpad for members looking to organize and advocate within the broader literary and publishing world.

The group employs cooperative decision-making within a strong framework of community standards informed by liberatory approaches, where racism, imperialism, transphobia, promotion of generative AI, and other bigotries will not be tolerated.

Subtext will not privilege the dominant political perspectives of the United States or other imperial powers. It aims to have a global membership while recognizing that being an English language space produces biases its members will work to combat.
